I am happy with a 5% threshold as it reduces fragmentation in parliament.

I would like the ability to rank my preference of parties for the MMP party vote. In the 2005 and 2008 elections I voted for minor parties. In both cases the party I voted for didn’t reach the 5% threshold and so my party vote was discarded. In 2011 I voted for my second choice party because I wasn’t certain my first choice party would reach the threshold. This type of voting sends the wrong message. Everybody should be able to accurately state their party preference and always have their vote count.
