The Issues Being Reviewed
What happens next?
The public submission process began on 13 February, with the launch of the dedicated website and consultation paper. Public submissions were open until the end of May, and over 4,600 were received. All submissions received are available online here.
From late April to mid May the Commission traveled to hear from submitters in person.
Drawing on the information and material presented in submissions, the Commission then developed a number of proposals. These were released as a Proposals Paper on 13 August, with an invitation to the public to again provide written comment. The deadline for these submissions was 7 September 2012.
The Commission then developed its final report. This was presented to the Minister of Justice on 29 October 2012 and set out the Commissions's recommendations for change.
